Consumers are aware that, for the most part, a substantial number of these “magic” pills and supplements do not work. Consumers are ready, and will readily pay for products and services that will produce results that are healthy, convenient, satisfying, and fit well into today's busy lifestyle.

The health club and wellness industry is experiencing the largest growth in its 40-year history. America’s shift towards wellness and preventative medicine has proven to be a boom for the health club industry. Over 100 million members are expected to join U.S. health clubs by 2010, a 118% overall increase.
Studies show that healthy lifestyle programs, such as those featured in the BalanceDiet™ brand, are more popular with consumers over time. Our programs have significant advantages over other such diets – over half (54%) of popular healthy lifestyle diet users (Such as BalanceDiet™or the South Beach Diet) say that their weight loss to date has either met their goal or exceeded their expectations, compared to only 22% of those on a specific mean or menu plan.

- Over 89% of U.S. women have expressed dissatisfaction with their current physical appearance, and have expressed a desire to change.
- 50% of women and 25% of men are seeking to lose weight.
- 30% each are actively seeking to maintain current weight.
- Most people have attempted to diet using more than one method. On average, dieters try one method or another for about six months at the rate of more than one per year for two years.
- Weight loss and ancillary service purchases are predominantly made by women (72%).
